The island of Tiran is situated at the southern end of the Inlet of Aqaba, which is 2000 meters cut in the base of the sea. Here the Bay limits and progresses toward becoming shallower.
With the difference in tides, immense amounts of water course through this bottleneck and cause solid flows. In the focal point of the Strait of Tiran, an edge pushes up, running from north to south.
